JULY SUMMER SOURCING DAY

Chapter event. Over the summer we will not be having 'formal' meetings, however we have arranged a sourcing day. Join us for our Third Summer Sourcing Day. This year we are heading up to Vaughan to visit a few of our Affiliates Showrooms. When: Monday, July 8 Time: 10 a.m. Where: Vaughan - We'll meet at 10 a.m. for our first showroom which is Zilli Home Interiors at 672 Chrislea Rd, Vaughan. We will then proceed to other destinations such as Prima Lighting and Oro Mosaics. (see list and directions attached). We have also scheduled some time for lunch at Vaughan Mills Mall. Andrew R.
Thomas, PMP, is a Project Management Consultant for companies such as Hatch
Engineering, Barrick Gold, and teaches the George
Washington University Project Management curriculum for numerous corporate
clients. Andrew lives in the GTA west
and understands the local market and how important P.M. is to the decorating
profession. He spoke to us for an hour
at the Toronto PD day and now is offering us an in-depth, hands-on 4 hour workshop,
geared towards an actual decorating project.
Have you ever found yourself scrambling to get a fix on
what’s happening with your project? Running from job to job, and working 18
hours a day, but still feel like you are constantly trying to catch up with
your work load?
This workshop will
look at practices that are known to lead to project success. These practices
include: assembling the right team, having clearly articulated goals and
objectives, effectively engaging the client, understanding who all the
stakeholders are and what motivates them…these are just a few of the key topics
that will be examined.
Andy will lead you in
small groups through a typical Decorating Project, and help you learn the project
management tools and techniques which will make you more efficient as a
decorator, thus increasing profitability, and client satisfaction.

We are gearing up for CDECA's Annual General Meeting and the Awards Presentation for the winners of our Decorating Contest. Once again it will be held at the Sunnybrook Estates and the date is April 8th. More details will be forthcoming from our National Office.
It has been quite a season for CDECA members since the holidays. We have participated in The Interior Design Show in January as well as a few members offered Decorating Advise at the Hamilton Home Show as well as a stage presentation. We recently had our annual Professional Development Day in February as well.

The National Home Show, held at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place is happening from March 15 through to 24. Check out the Homes Publishing Booth, #4205, highlighting Reno & Decor Magazine where a few of CDECA members will be on hand offering solutions on Design Dilemmas.
The Canadian Home Furnishings Market, TCHFM will be happening at the International Centre on January 12 - 15, 2013.
The Interior Design Show, IDS will be held January 24 - 27, 2013 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Join your colleagues at the Gala on Thursday Night, January 24th to enjoy some great fun, food and mingling. You never know who you will run into.....
A number of CDECA members have been attending the last couple of years as a group and it has truly been a lot of fun. So sign up and let us know you are attending and we can all meet to enjoy the evening.....

All You Ever Wanted to Know About Wallcoverings
Carlo Pignataro from Speers Paint has planned a very informative evening for us on the topic of specifications and contracts. Following that, Wayne Woodley, Oakville’s finest wall covering installer, will provide us with information on all aspects of wall coverings and installations.
